    Katy AylingKaty won a scholarship to Trinity whilst in the Sixth Form, and was appointed Principal clarinettist in their Symphony Orchestra for her final year. She then studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and currently studies with the renowned clarinettists Barnaby Robson and Andrew Webster.

    Katy is a very experienced performer. In November last year, she was asked to play Stephen McNeff’s clarinet concerto with the conservatoire’s wind band, and has played solo clarinet in their symphony orchestra on numerous occasions. She is also a member of two other established ensembles.

    Katy also has a keen interest in educational work. She has taught in several schools, and recently took part in an educational workshop at the Wigmore Hall.

  • Philip Mills

    young  musical life playing in various wind bands in the Warwickshire area, he successfully passed
    his audition and enlisted with the Coldstream Guards Band.

    In 1983 he studied clarinet and saxophone at Kneller Hall under Paul Harvey. Having completed the year, he undertook his position in the Coldstream Guards Band and took over as the Principal
    Clarinettist in 1990 – a position he held for fifteen years.

    He has performed in many of the best concert halls around the world and also as a soloist on Radio 4, and was also featured on the tenor saxophone in a recent recording of The Harry James Trumpet
    Concert, which was performed by Rod Franks.

    Philip is currently teaching and working as a freelance clarinettist and saxophonist in the London area. His other interests include: musical composition, yoga and the martial arts.

    • Sara Charles

      charlesSara studied clarinet and composition at Dartington School Of The Arts then went on to study graduate and performers courses at The Royal Northern College of Music, as a Clarinettist and Saxophonist achieving a G.R.N.C.M. and a P.P.R.N.C.M. Sara also studied conducting, singing, orchestral arrangement, and The Art of Teaching whilst at the R.N.C.M.

      As well as working nationally as a professional concert and recital solo performer, Sara has worked extensively teaching and coaching children of all ages and ability. She runs workshops and summer schools for children and young people all around the UK involving original music written specifically for the individual children she works with.

      Sara is a very busy composer, composing educational children?s songs, pop songs and musicals, and recently film scoring work. She is also co principal of Genesis Theatre Schools: a professional Stage School for 5 to 17 year olds.
